The Vintage Bronze Head of Christ Rosary Center gives its whole shield-shaped field to a single profile: Christ bearded and long-haired, turned to the right, a halo close behind the head and the flutes of his robe filling the field below. A small cross rises out of a fan of rays above him, and two full-blown flowers open on leafy stems to either side.
The relief is soft and rather tender, closer to a cameo than to a struck medal, and the flowers give the piece a nineteenth-century sweetness that suits a rosary well. Devotion to the face of Christ has always been the most personal kind, since it asks for no event and no title, only a countenance, the one a Christian hopes to see at last. At three-quarters of an inch it sits naturally between the decades.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
