The Holy Family Crucifix ends each of its four arms in a rounded terminal carrying a roundel of its own. A dove descends in rays at the head, a bearded haloed face looks out from the left arm, a veiled woman's head from the right, and a winged child's face closes the foot, while the corpus hangs at the crossing with the head bowed.
The design gathers the household of heaven around the cross. The dove is the Holy Spirit, present at the Jordan and present here; the veiled head is Mary, who stood at the foot of the cross and did not leave; the angel below keeps the watch that angels keep. Placing them at the four ends means the wearer never looks at the Crucified alone, but always in company, which is a fair picture of how the Church has always prayed before a crucifix.
The Holy Family Crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the crucifix's vintage character.
