The Vintage Bronze Christ First Communion Medal shows Christ seated before an altar beneath a round arch with a chalice in his hand, two children kneeling at his knees to receive Communion. The other face holds a chalice with the radiant Host above it, set among wheat, grapevines and a descending dove.
Around that border runs RECUERDO DE MI PRIMERA COMUNION, souvenir of my First Communion, the words that make this a keepsake as much as a medal. It comes from a nineteenth-century Spanish original, from an era when a child's first Communion was marked with something meant to be kept for life. The wheat and grapes are the bread and wine before the consecration, and the dove above them is the Spirit who makes the change. Given to a child today it says exactly what it said then.
The Christ First Communion medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
