The Vintage Yellow Bronze Small Sacred Heart Milagro is a heart the size of a thumbnail, modelled in high relief, with flames breaking from its top in five uneven tongues. The upper face is dimpled and irregular where the wound and the crown of thorns fall, and the surface keeps the roughness of the original casting rather than a polish, the unsmoothed quality that marks folk work.
Milagros are small metal offerings pinned to a shrine or a statue in petition or in thanks, a practice long kept in Mexico and the Southwest. The heart is the most common of them all, brought for love, for grief, for an illness of the heart itself, and for the burning love that the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands for. Carried today it holds both senses at once: a prayer made and a favor remembered.
The milagro was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
