The Vintage Yellow Bronze Sacred Heart Scrollwork Crucifix sets a flaming Sacred Heart where a lettered tablet ordinarily goes. The heart rests directly above the corpus with a small cross rising from its crest, and the crossbar to either side is filled with fine horizontal wave lines that read as light spreading outward from it. Each arm and the foot end in generous curled scrollwork, all of it warm in the yellow bronze.
The substitution is deliberate. Instead of naming Christ by Pilate’s title, this cross names him by his heart, so that the instrument of the Passion and the emblem of the love that accepted it stand together in one view. Devotion to the Sacred Heart, given to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque at Paray-le-Monial, has always held those two things inseparable. No lettering appears anywhere on the piece.
This yellow bronze crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the crucifix’s vintage character.
