The Vintage Yellow Bronze Holy Spirit Double Scapular Medal carries two images at once. Two small oval panels sit side by side within a frame of pierced scrollwork, and above the join between them the Holy Spirit descends as a dove with wings outspread. In the left panel the Virgin stands with her arms lowered and open and rays falling from her hands.
Medals of this double form were made to be worn in place of a cloth scapular, gathering more than one devotion into a single small piece so that the enrolled could keep their devotions on them at all hours. The dove set above both panels puts the Holy Spirit over the whole arrangement, the one who makes any devotion fruitful. Because the scrollwork frame is cut clean through, light passes across the medal and it stays light in the hand for its width.
