The Vintage Yellow Bronze Coptic Beaded Trinity Cross is built entirely out of beads. Two crossbars, the upper shorter than the lower, end in clusters of three cast beads at every point, and a further line of fine beading runs down the center of each bar and along the shaft, with a single bead capping the foot. Nothing on it is flat; the whole cross is nodes and lines.
In the Coptic tradition those threefold terminals are read as a figure of the Trinity, three at every extremity of the cross, so that the doctrine is written into the shape rather than lettered onto it. The antique original dates to the nineteenth century, though the form itself is far older and has been repeated in Egyptian and Ethiopian metalwork for centuries. At an inch and a half it wears lightly and reads clearly from across a room.
The cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the piece's vintage character.
