The Vintage White Bronze Small Curved Cross with Star Rosettes is made almost entirely of dots. Rows of raised beads run around each arm, a small star rosette sits at the center of every arm and at the crossing, and the lower arm flares into a wide skirted foot edged with more beading. The whole cross is gently curved so that it lies against the wearer.
Beaded work of this kind belongs to a long folk tradition of cross making, where texture rather than figures carries the ornament. The high points take the light while the recesses stay dark, so the granulated surface glitters quietly as it moves.
