The Vintage White Bronze Four Roses Crucifix closes at every point with a rose. Four quatrefoil terminals, one at the head, one at each arm and one at the foot, each frame a full open blossom, and behind the corpus a broad sunburst spreads out from the crossing. The figure is modelled with the head fallen to the right and the loincloth caught at the hip.
The small tablet above the head is lettered INRI, the Latin abbreviation of Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the charge Pilate had fixed to the cross. Roses set around that inscription are an old and deliberate pairing, since the Rosary is a garland of them and the Church has always found sweetness at the center of the Passion. At just under two and a half inches it makes a substantial rosary crucifix.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
