The Vintage White Bronze Elegant Flared-Arm Crucifix carries unusually clean lines. The arms widen out to flat ridged terminals cut back at an angle, a pointed diamond finial rises above the head of Christ, and the shaft closes in a broad spade foot, with a small tablet set above the head.
That tablet stands for the titulus, the board on which Pilate's charge was fixed to the cross and which the Church has kept in her art ever since as a declaration of Christ's kingship. Below it the corpus is long-limbed and lightly modelled, so the crucifix reads as elegant rather than heavy, and the cool pale tone of white bronze suits that restraint, giving the piece the look of something drawn rather than sculpted. The flat faces of the arms take an antiqued finish evenly and keep the outline crisp at arm's length.
This crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
