The Vintage Sterling Silver Seven Sorrows Heart Rosary Center is built entirely around one image. A heart stands raised, smooth and full, at the middle of a fan of fine rays, a small flame rising at its crown, and a ring of swords is driven through it, their pommelled hilts standing out all the way around the edge.
The pierced heart is the emblem of Our Lady of Sorrows, and the swords, traditionally seven, stand for the seven griefs of her life: Simeon's prophecy that a sword would pierce her own soul, the flight into Egypt, the loss of the Child in the Temple, the meeting on the road to Calvary, the crucifixion, the taking down from the cross, and the burial. A center like this turns the whole rosary into a meditation on those seven moments, and sterling holds the fine rays and the ring of hilts with real crispness.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
