Two full-blown roses open across the front of the Vintage Bronze Two Roses Center, with leaves and a bud gathered around them and the stems running off to one side, so the composition sits deliberately off balance and is livelier for it. The petals are cut deep enough to hold real shadow, naturalistic Marian ornament of the kind that flowered on rosary fittings in the nineteenth century.
Turn it over and the devotion is named. Two small oval impressions of the Miraculous Medal are set into the flat reverse: above, the Virgin standing with rays streaming from her hands; below, the letter M surmounted by a cross above the two hearts, encircled by stars. That design was given to Saint Catherine Labouré at the Rue du Bac in Paris in 1830, and the roses on the front are Mary’s own flower, so both faces speak of one devotion.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
