The Vintage Bronze Stella Maris Rosary Center is devoted to Mary under the title sailors gave her, Star of the Sea. The Virgin stands on a rocky shore with her hands joined and a burst of rays behind her, STELLA MARIS arched above and ORA PRO NOBIS divided at her sides: Star of the Sea, pray for us. The reverse turns to the sea itself, with an anchor beneath a rayed star and ribbon scrolls winding across it.
Those scrolls read RESPICE STELLAM, VOCA MARIAM, look to the star, call upon Mary. The words come from the sermon St. Bernard preached on the Virgin's name, where he tells anyone tossed in the storms of this life to keep their eyes on her light and her name in their mouth. Sailors carried the prayer literally. It has always belonged just as much to people navigating rough weather of their own.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
