The Vintage Bronze Small Radiant Crucifix is worked at small scale without being simplified. Behind the head of the corpus a pointed diamond is set with a rosette at its center, short rays running out from it along both arms, so the crossing reads as a burst of light. A second fan of rays rises from the foot of the shaft, and the four ends flare gently as they taper.
The corpus is quietly modelled, the head fallen forward, the loincloth light, a restrained treatment that lets the radiance around it carry the meaning. Light breaking from the cross is the whole of the Christian claim about Good Friday: that the instrument of death became the sign of glory. At this size the crucifix sits well at the foot of a child's rosary or a chaplet, where a larger one would overbalance the beads.
The small radiant crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
