The Vintage Bronze Small Miraculous Medal shows the Blessed Virgin standing with her hands lowered and open, rays falling from her fingers. Those rays are the graces, she told Saint Catherine Laboure, that she pours out on everyone who asks for them. A frame of curling bands surrounds her.
Around the rim runs the invocation O MARY CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN PRAY FOR US WHO HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE, with 1830 at the foot. That is the year Catherine was shown this exact design in the chapel on the Rue du Bac in Paris, and not the year the piece was made. The reverse carries the rest of what she saw: the letter M surmounted by a cross, twelve stars around it, and beneath them the Heart crowned with thorns and the Heart pierced by a sword.
The Miraculous Medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
