The Vintage Bronze Small Heart and Flowers Rosary Center is all ornament. A rosette opens at the top between two scrolled volutes, and beneath it a heart-shaped panel is filled with stylized palm leaves, the whole pierced through so that light passes between the forms.
Heart and palm are old companions in Catholic ornament, the heart for love offered and the palm for the victory won through it, and a center worked in nothing but those two forms keeps its meaning without crowding the beads around it. Ornament of this kind was the everyday language of the old European medal houses, where a small fitting was still expected to be beautiful.
