The Vintage Bronze Seven Sorrows Rosary Center is worked on both faces. One shows the Virgin veiled and haloed, her hands folded low, seven swords driven fanwise into a flaming heart at her breast. The other shows the Crucifixion, with two mourning figures collapsed at the foot of the cross. The finish is left rustic, the relief soft rather than sharp.
Latin runs around both rims, and the two legends answer one another. MATER DOLOROSA, Mother of Sorrows, names the seven griefs of her life, from Simeon's prophecy that a sword would pierce her own soul to the burial of her Son. IN CRUCE SALUS, in the Cross is salvation, gives the reason none of that sorrow was wasted. It is a fitting center for the Servite chaplet of the Seven Sorrows, or for any rosary prayed with those mysteries in mind.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
