The Vintage Bronze Saint Rita Fan-Shaped Rosary Center is built as a fan, its ribbed wings spreading from a narrow waist to hold an oval panel at the middle. Inside the panel a veiled religious kneels at the left before a standing figure and a cross. The whole piece is barely three-quarters of an inch, so the relief reads as a quiet vignette rather than a portrait.
The scene is the one traditionally shown for Saint Rita of Cascia, who was praying before a crucifix when a thorn came loose from the crown and lodged in her forehead, leaving a wound she carried for fifteen years. Rita had asked to share something of the Passion, and she is remembered for a life in which very little went the way she wanted: an unhappy marriage, a husband murdered, two sons dead, and a convent that refused her before it took her in. She is the saint people turn to when a situation looks past mending, and a center like this puts her at the heart of the rosary.
The Saint Rita rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
