The Vintage Bronze Rustic Timber Crucifix is a cross of rough, direct character, modelled as two hewn timbers with the grain and the tool marks left in the metal and the beam ends cut square. A plain board sits above the head where a titulus would ordinarily be lettered. Christ is long-limbed and simply drawn, the arms held almost horizontal, the loincloth knotted at the hip.
The strength of the piece lies in that contrast: the deliberate roughness of the wood against the smoothness of the figure. It is the crucifix as the Gospel describes it, a working timber raised on a hill outside the city walls, with none of the polish that later devotion gave it. Held in the hand it asks to be felt as much as looked at, and it carries well on a rosary meant for long, ordinary use.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
