The Vintage Bronze Resurrection Cross with Lilies is a cross of unusual quietness. Its centre is a beaded roundel holding the risen Christ with both arms lifted and rays opening behind him, two smaller figures kneeling at either side. Sprays of lily and slender leaves run out along the arms and down the full length of the shaft, so the whole piece reads as a plant in flower as much as a cross.
No lettering is cast anywhere on either face, and the meaning is carried entirely by the imagery. Christ stands in the attitude of blessing with witnesses bowed beside him, and the lily is the old emblem of new life, the flower that comes up out of a buried bulb every spring without being asked. A cross that shows the Resurrection rather than the Passion is a rarer thing, and it makes this a natural piece for Easter, for a confirmation, or for anyone who wants the end of the story rather than the middle of it.
