At the middle of the Vintage Bronze Praying Cherub Rosary Center is a child's head with wings spread behind it and two small hands joined in front, modelled in high relief and looking straight out at whoever holds the piece. The four arms around it are filled with engraved leaf sprays and finished with small beaded points, so the figure sits in a wreath of foliage.
Praying angels were a favorite motif of nineteenth-century devotional metal, and the meaning is plain enough: prayer continues in heaven while ours continues here, and the two are finally the same prayer. Set where the decades of a rosary gather, a cherub with folded hands is a reminder that no one says these prayers alone. It makes a gentle center for a child's rosary, or for anyone praying for one.
