The Vintage Bronze Pardon Crucifix carries its prayers on the metal itself. The front sets the corpus on a cross with deeply scrolled and pierced arms, beneath a titulus spelled out in full rather than abbreviated: JESUS NAZARENUS REX JUDAEORUM, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.
The reverse is lettered from end to end around a rayed Sacred Heart. FATHER runs along one arm and FORGIVE THEM along the other, the words Christ spoke from the cross; BEHOLD THIS HEART stands above and WHICH HAS SO LOVED MEN below, with PRECIOUS BLOOD at the arm tips and an interlaced Marian monogram at the foot. The Pardon Crucifix was an indulgenced devotion of the early twentieth century, given to those praying for mercy for themselves and for the people who had wronged them. Everything on it is aimed at forgiveness, asked for and given.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
