The Vintage Bronze Our Lady of Good Help Medal is a pilgrimage medal, worked on both faces. The front is given to a crowned statue of the Virgin carrying a crowned Child, set back in an arched niche as such statues stand in their shrines, with a spray of roses and leaves climbing the right-hand edge and a small rosette at the top of the frame.
The reverse is a plain field carrying three lines of fine French cursive that open with the word Souvenir, a keepsake. Medals like this were brought home from shrines as the token of a visit made and a prayer left behind. Good Help, Notre-Dame du Bon Secours, is among the oldest titles given to Mary by people who came asking for exactly that, and the crowned statue in its niche is how they would have found her.
This medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
