The Vintage Bronze Ornate Scroll Crucifix with INRI is worked in every part. The arms open into pierced C-scrolls that curl back on themselves, each of the four terminals finishes in a fleur-de-lis, and the metal is cut away between them so that the crucifix is as much line as mass. Against that busy ground the corpus hangs quietly, head bowed to the right, a small rayed halo behind it.
Above the head is the title plaque, lettered INRI for Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, the charge Pilate ordered fixed to the cross and then refused to soften. It is crisply cast and easy to read. At two and a quarter inches this is a substantial crucifix, well suited to the foot of a rosary and clear enough to read at arm's length.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
