The Vintage Bronze Mary with Flowers Miraculous Medal gives the familiar oval a garden of its own. The Virgin stands at the centre with her arms lowered and open inside a beaded ring, and around that ring the maker built a border of scrolls and applied flowers, a full rosette at the lower left and blossoms and leaves running round the foot and shoulders.
This is the medal given at the Rue du Bac in Paris in 1830, worn ever since by those asking Mary's intercession under the title of her Immaculate Conception. The reverse holds the traditional design and nothing else: the cross and bar rising above the letter M, ringed by the twelve stars of the woman of the Apocalypse crowned with them. At seven-eighths of an inch it is sized for everyday wear rather than for display, and the flowers keep it from ever looking severe.
The Mary with Flowers medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
