The Vintage Bronze Four Hearts Crucifix sets a small heart into each of its four terminals, a beaded stud at the center of every one, with fine ribbing running along the arms between them. The corpus is long and lightly modelled, the head fallen to the right, the proportions kept narrow throughout.
The four hearts are a quiet piece of symbolism, love holding the cross at each of its points, and they were a common motif on European rosary crucifixes, where a maker could add warmth to a plain cross without adding weight to it. There is no lettering anywhere on the piece. Slender crosses like this one were made to hang straight and narrow at the end of a strand of small beads, and they still do that better than a heavier cross can, sitting comfortably in a closed hand through five decades.
The four hearts crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
