Product Details

The Vintage Bronze Five Wounds Cross counts to five and stops. Four round bosses close the arms of a short equal-armed cross and a fifth sits at the crossing, every one of them stamped with concentric rings so that the five read as five deliberate marks. The ground between the arms is left plain and slightly hollowed, which throws all the attention onto those circles.

Five wounds: the two hands, the two feet, and the side opened by the lance. Devotion to the Five Wounds of Christ, and to the stigmata St. Francis received in their likeness, was among the most widespread of the late Middle Ages, and this original goes back to the fifteenth century. There is no lettering; the counting is the whole statement. Small, blunt and quietly powerful, it wears well as an everyday cross.

The cross was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
