The four ends of the Vintage Bronze Crucifix with Diamond Bows open into wide bows of paired leaves, and each bow is pierced through the middle with a small diamond, so the light catches at all four points of the cross. The arms between them are kept plain and slightly stepped, the corpus is long and gently modelled, and a raised titulus sits above the head. At two inches it has the weight of a proper rosary crucifix.
The design works by contrast, a strict plain cross set against four bursts of ornament, which is what gives it the formal, almost heraldic look of the older Continental workshops. The pierced diamonds are a practical piece of craft as much as a flourish: cutting through the metal at the terminals keeps a heavy cross from reading as a solid slab and lets whatever is behind it show through at the four extremities. It is a good choice for a full-size rosary, where a small crucifix tends to disappear against the beads.
