The Vintage Bronze Crucifix Pendant in Ornate Frame sets a crucifix like a picture in its own frame. The cross itself is plain, a bar and an upright with the corpus at the crossing, and around it rises a pierced border of curling leaves and scrolls that crests above the cross and closes below in a small heart-shaped drop. All the ornament sits in the openwork, which leaves the figure clear.
Above the crossbar is a raised titulus with the four letters INRI, the Latin abbreviation of the charge Pilate fixed over the cross: Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. It was written to mock him and has been read ever since as the plain truth, which is why those four letters appear on nearly every crucifix made. On the antique original they are worn shallow, and this casting keeps that wear.
The crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
