The Vintage Bronze Crowned Madonna with Nine Angels Medal is filled edge to edge with light. At the center a crowned Virgin stands on a small pedestal holding the crowned Child, and a long-rayed glory spreads behind them across the four-lobed field. Nine winged cherub heads look out from banks of low cloud, three at either side and three below.
This is Mary as Queen of Heaven, crowned beside her Son and attended by the whole court of angels, the scene the Church keeps before it in the fifth glorious mystery. The nine faces are not decoration but the choirs themselves, all of heaven turned toward one woman and one child. The quatrefoil outline is unusual and gives the medal a soft, flowerlike edge that suits the subject far better than a plain circle would.
The medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.
