Product Details

This school prize medal is built around a quartered shield beneath a coronet, a cross rising behind it, framed by a laurel branch on one side and a flowering branch on the other inside a pierced border, with PREMIO on a banderole at the foot. The other face is a plain field carrying five lines of raised Spanish lettering.

Premio is the Spanish word for prize, and the reverse names the school that gave it: the Colegio de la Compañia de Santa Teresa de Jesus, the teaching congregation founded by Enrique de Ossó in 1876 and placed under the patronage of Teresa of Avila. Teresa taught that God walks among the pots and pans, that ordinary work done well is prayer, and a medal like this was pinned on a student who had shown it. The laurel is for the achievement, and the cross behind the shield for the reason the school existed at all.

This prize medal was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the medal's vintage character.

  • Made in the USA
  • Artisan-cast from an antique original
  • Finished by hand, so every piece is subtly unique.
  • Buy the medal alone, or add an optional chain or cord necklace
  • Add a cord or chain to have it arrive assembled and ready to wear
  • Arrives in a deluxe velour jewelry box
