The Vintage Bronze Ave Maria Monogram Center is made entirely of letters, though it takes a moment to see them. Two long scrolled volutes curve out to either side, a ribbed crest rises at the top, and the strapwork between them interlaces into an A and an M woven together — the old monogram for Ave Maria.
Hail Mary: the first words of the angel's greeting, and the prayer the whole rosary is built on, worked here into the metal at the very join of the beads. Cast rather than engraved, the letters keep the thickness and irregularity of hand-modelled wax. The original comes from the long tradition of silver and bronze rosary work in the Philippines, and a Marian center with no figural image suits a plainer set of beads or a man's rosary.
The rosary center was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves its vintage character.
