The Vintage Bronze Art Deco Rayed Crucifix builds its whole image out of light. Behind the shoulders of the corpus a wide fan of finely incised rays opens across the crossbar, and the lower shaft tapers away in flutes like a column, so the figure stands at the center of a burst rather than against bare wood. A small capital block finishes the upright above the head.
The flat geometric drapery, the ruled rays and the fluted foot belong to the Art Deco manner of the 1920s and 1930s, when devotional metalwork took up the lines of its own decade. Nothing is lettered, and nothing needs to be. The design makes its statement through the rays alone: the crucified Christ already shown in glory, Good Friday and Easter held in a single shape.
The Art Deco Rayed Crucifix was faithfully reproduced from an antique original and cast in the USA using a traditional fine-detail casting process that preserves the crucifix's vintage character.
