St. Hugh of Lincoln
St. Hugh of Lincoln was a French Carthusian bishop in England, Burgundian, prior of the first English Charterhouse at Witham at Henry II's invitation; Bishop of Lincoln from 1186, he stood up to Henry II, Richard I, and John on behalf of the rights of the Church and the Jewish community of Lincoln, whom he protected from the mobs of 1190.
Canonized 1220 by Honorius III - the first canonized Carthusian.
