At the heart of this rosary is the medal of St. Benedict, the father of Western monasticism, whose Cross has been a sign of protection for over a thousand years.

St. Benedict of Nursia (c. 480–547) is the father of Western monasticism, founder of the Benedictine Order, and one of Christianity's most powerful intercessors against evil. The medal that bears his name has been venerated since at least the 11th century, and the inscriptions on it form a prayer of exorcism in Latin: Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti (Cross of the Holy Father Benedict) and Vade retro Satana (Begone, Satan).
