Anglo-Saxon Benedictine bishop (c. 700-787), of Wessex, brother of Sts. Walburga and Winibald; the first Englishman known to have visited the Holy Land, where he traveled 722-729. Joined St. Boniface in Germany in 740 and became Bishop of Eichstätt from 741 for over 40 years. Pre-Congregation.
