Cypriot shepherd who became Bishop of Trimythous on his native island and attended the First Council of Nicaea in 325, where he is said to have confounded an Arian philosopher with a simple confession of the Trinity. Famed for his humility, simple ways, and miracles, he continued tending sheep even as bishop. His relics, preserved at Corfu, are processed through the streets four times a year and are counted among the most venerated in the Christian world.
