Pope from 536-537, son of Pope St. Hormisdas (born before his father's ordination); deposed by Belisarius at the empress Theodora's urging when he refused to reinstate Anthimus, the deposed Monophysite patriarch of Constantinople. Exiled to Palmaria, where he died of starvation. Pre-Congregation.
