1st-century disciple, prophet of the Jerusalem church (Acts 15:22), companion of St. Paul on the second missionary journey (Acts 15-18); imprisoned with Paul at Philippi (Acts 16). Tradition associates him also with the "Silvanus" of 1 Peter 5:12 and 2 Cor 1:19. Pre-Congregation.
