Frankish king (c. 630-656), king of Austrasia from 633 (a child king under the regency of Pepin of Landen); founded several monasteries including Stavelot-Malmedy with St. Remaclus. Pre-Congregation; first king to be venerated as a saint among the Carolingians' predecessors.
