Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin who came to Jesus by night (Jn 3:1-21), defended him before his colleagues (Jn 7:50-52), and with St. Joseph of Arimathea provided spices and assisted at his burial (Jn 19:39). Tradition makes him a secret disciple later baptized by Sts. Peter and John.
