Italian Benedictine monk (c. 512-c. 584), with his fellow oblate St. Placid the closest disciple of St. Benedict at Monte Cassino, said to have walked on the water of the lake to rescue the drowning Placid. Tradition (now disputed) makes him founder of Glanfeuil in France. Pre-Congregation.
