Frisian-German bishop (c. 742-809), Frisian disciple of St. Boniface's tradition, educated at York under Alcuin; missionary among the Frisians and Saxons sent by Charlemagne, founded the abbey-cathedral of Münster and was its first bishop. Pre-Congregation.
