Apostle of the Ardennes and bishop of Maastricht-Liège. According to legend, he was a worldly nobleman converted while hunting on Good Friday by the vision of a stag bearing a luminous crucifix between its antlers. He became a disciple of St. Lambert and succeeded him as bishop, evangelizing the pagan tribes of the Ardennes forests.
