Pope from 514-523, of Frosinone, widower with a son who would become Pope St. Silverius; ended the 35-year Acacian Schism between Rome and Constantinople in 519 with the "Formula of Hormisdas," subscribed by 250 Eastern bishops, which restated Roman primacy over the see of Peter. Pre-Congregation.
