Visigothic prince (c. 564-585), eldest son of King Leovigild of Spain; converted from Arianism to Catholicism under the influence of his wife Ingund and of St. Leander of Seville. Rebelled against his Arian father, was defeated, imprisoned at Seville and beheaded for refusing Arian communion. Pre-Congregation; the cause of the Catholicization of the Visigothic kingdom under his brother Reccared.
