Italian priest and founder (1851-1927), Sicilian aristocrat ordained in 1878 and devoted to the desperately poor of Messina's Avignone slum; founded the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (1897) and the Daughters of Divine Zeal, dedicated to praying for and fostering vocations as commanded in Matthew 9:38. Canonized 2004 by John Paul II.
