Portuguese shepherd-boy (1908-1919) of Aljustrel, brother of Bl. Lúcia and St. Jacinta Marto; with them received the Marian apparitions at Fátima from May to October 1917. Died of the Spanish-flu pandemic at age 10 with great fortitude, having spent his short remaining life in prayer and reparation. Canonized 2017 by Francis on the centenary of the apparitions.
