North African slave-woman (d. 203), pregnant catechumen who gave birth in prison and was thrown to wild beasts in the amphitheater of Carthage with St. Perpetua and four companions under Septimius Severus. Their "Passion of Perpetua and Felicity" is one of the earliest authentic Christian texts written by women and was read in the African liturgy. Roman Canon.
