This brief prayer for the dead is one of the most frequently used in Catholic devotion. It is prayed at funerals, in the Divine Office, after Grace After Meals, and whenever remembering the faithful departed.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
